The Resplendents
"The Resplendents are a rare thing these days - an eight piece gospel, lounge and soul band. Combining the raw energy of Ike and Tina with the laid back vibe of Otis Redding, it makes a nice treat from the usual brand of Libertines wannabes."

News

So here's the news! In a fortnight we're off to record a new single with Colin Elliot, the man who was behind Richard Hawley's Mercury Music Prize nominated Coles Corner. The single - Quicksand - will be backed up with At the end of the day which was originally going to go on our previous now unreleased EP. The single will be out on June 7th when we're launching it a The Cardigan Arms in Leeds, more details to come!

In other news we've got reviews in the latest issues of both Sandman and Vibrations magazines so try and pick one up. Some snippets:

"Catchy songs were thrown at the crowd with full-on hyperactive energy, making them one of the highlights of the night.”
Sandman Magazine
"white-suited blue-eyed crooner Alex Resplendent (possibly not real name) belts out tunes of love and hate (mainly hate, usually divorce) over super tight Memphis/Motown/Dexy's backing".
Vibrations Magazine

Ok we have new gig dates and are playing THIS COMING TUESDAY 5TH FEB in a Fundraiser for this year's Unity Day. Please come. We have a whole new website on the way and a very important message about what we're doing in April to come. Stick with it!

New EP might be out a bit later than we thought...

Our new EP is finished! It's going to be called 6 Years, 3 Months & 14 Days and will be available from 2nd Feb at a very special launch gig in Leeds, as a special treat you can hear the lead track Divorce on our Myspace now! Artwork is being done by Katy Irwin who did such a lovely job on the Quetzal EP. More info on all that soon... We've found out we're on at 3pm at Wrathstonbury after our good friend Peter Wright, if you'd like an advance £6 let us know. Those of you who are coming to Wrathstonbury have a chance to get your hands on a copy of Divorce before Feb by buying the charity CD onsale on the night so bring your pennies. Lots of gigs are booked for next year and this website will be changing soon. All go eh?
